About A Mountain Home Real Estate
Freda Eaves, Owner / Broker
I was born in Mesa, Arizona and spent my younger days in mostly desert terrain. Living in the mountains was only a distant dream for me, but by the way I fell in love with Lake City when I moved here with my husband in 1976, I think it must have been in my blood even way back then. I moved here 30 years ago and knew in an instant I was home! Colorado -- and the Lake City area in particular -- truly has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Because photography and sightseeing are some of my favorite things to do, I immediately began exploring this region, taking every back road and major highway to see what was at the other end. Now, I know Hinsdale County like the back of my hand. Believe me, for a real estate broker, moving to the Lake City area was like a dream come true!
Although it's hard to decide which really are my favorites, some of the incredible places I love in this area include: the Alpine Loop, a 4-wheel drive that goes from Lake City to Silverton, to Ouray and many other small communities; Deer Lakes, where the fishing is fantastic and is also a great site for picnics and to take your children; Rambouillet Park, with its yurts for rent and which is a perfect place for watching moose and elk... also, the only place I've been able to spot big horn sheep; Lake San Cristobal, for which Lake City is named and is the second largest natural lake in all of Colorado; and last but not least, the top of Slumgullion, where the snowmobiling is incredible!
I got my start in real estate in Oklahoma. My family had moved from Arizona to Tushka, OK and I attended college at Southeastern State. While still at SE State, I met my husband and after we married, we moved to Colorado to start our lives there, opening a gift shop in Lake City in 1976. In 1980, I went back home for the birth of our second son. While there, job opportunities opened up, allowing us to have work in both states. It was in 1994, that I discovered my love of working in the real estate market, so I got my license and worked for a while in the Oklahoma City area. Really, though, it was working in this area of Colorado that has been the fulfillment of my dream.
The History of A Mountain Home Real Estate
I opened A Mountain Home in January of 1997. I am a member in good standing of the National Board of Realtors, as well as being a member of the local board in Gunnison. I'm also a member of the San Luis Valley Board. I've been a member of the Lake City Chamber of Commerce since 1976.
Since opening A Mountain Home, I have helped many people find exactly what they were looking for in this area.
